For a long time, private aviation drew the same map: London, Geneva, Nice, New York. That map is being quietly redrawn. The reasons are partly geopolitical, partly fiscal, and partly cultural — and they matter for anyone whose calendar moves faster than a commercial schedule.

Dubai is now a true hub, not a stopover

Al Maktoum (DWC) and Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi have absorbed traffic that used to clear through Geneva. Customs is faster, slot availability is better, and crew rest infrastructure has matured. For a Gulf-based principal, a one-stop trip to São Paulo or Tokyo is now a matter of routing, not endurance.

The practical consequence: you can leave Dubai after dinner and land in time for breakfast meetings in two of the three major financial centres — without compromising the cabin.

Mid-size jets have quietly become the workhorse

Heavy iron still matters for trans-Pacific work, but for the 80% of trips inside a 4,500 nm radius, the new Praetor 600 and Challenger 3500 deliver the same cabin standard at materially lower hourly cost — and with airports a heavy jet cannot use.

We are seeing members shift from full ownership to fractional or jet-card structures specifically to access this category without operating two fleets.

The 'second airport' question

London City, Farnborough, Le Bourget, Lugano, Olbia — the airports that matter are increasingly the ones near where you are actually going, not where you used to land. Routing intelligence (slot risk, curfew, customs hours) is now half the value of a good flight desk.
